how absolutely amazing! I lived in Westlake for a while, and while we had deer, stray cats, one snake and a flock of peacocks come through the yard, I never saw foxes.

Thanks for the compliment. I love knitting socks.

There are excellent instructions for knitting socks on the Knitter's Review website: http://knittersreview.com/article_how_to.asp?article=/review/profile/070719_a.asp

Clara's instructions are very clear, and they explain what you are doing, rather then just following a pattern.

Wow, I am in awe. Socks scare the living daylights out of me! I am fine until I go to turn the heel. But I don't like socks without heels because, well, they just look wrong. I love the lacy rib socks however. :) wonderful work.

The yarn is Socks that Rock from Blue Moon. It was a gift from a friend who was de-stashing sock yarn, so I don't know the colorway. It makes really nice socks.

Greetings from the midcoast of Maine.

I love the socks. What are you using for yarn? Such a lovely shade.

Here we have five seasons: the usual four that everyone experiences and the current one: Mud Season. We don't plant our gardens until Memorial Day unless we want to flirt with frost. It's hard to imagine having Strawberries from the garden now. That's a treat we don't have until June.

I LOVE the mug cozies. So cute. Handmade for the Holidays is a great idea; I've never made it into an official policy but our family seems to do a lot of it. I'm going over to check it out now. Thanks for the tip!

I was checking out new additions to Buy Handmade and came upon your blog. Lovely :) I will do a little more tunneling in when I have more time. Clever sales gimick, but sometimes it's nice to limit our search for yarns, or we can start spinning in circles! I love the Mr. Greenjeans sweater. Like you, I always look at the lacy patterns, and often make them, but for others. I am by nature a dressed down kid of gal, so I gravitate towards solid and comfy! Anyway, your blog has a very nice feel, and the entries I read were pleasurable. I'll stop by often.

<a href="http://jesskolko.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">Jess</a> has that book and has been happy with several recipes in it, including the gumbo, if I'm not mistaken.
